The Wagner Prize is a new initiative by Opera Classica Europa, which gives the participants the opportunity to compete for cash prizes, roles and an opportunity to sing at the spectacular Markgräfliches Opernhaus in Bayreuth (pictured).

The competition is in 2 stages.

1st stage: Sending us two recordings. Click APPLY, download the "WAGNER PRIZE" form, fill it out and don't forget to include links to two videos (preferred) or recordings of yourself, one of which must be an aria by Wagner in German.

2nd stage: Competition in Bad Schwalbach. There will be two seperate live auditions... on June 5th and on June 25th, 2020. Each set will award seven winners.

1st Prize: There will be two 1st Prize Winners, one in early June and one in late June. The 1st Prize Winners will receive €500 in prize money and the opportunity to sing one aria at the spectacular Markgräfliches Opernhaus in Bayreuth on June 6th and June 26th, respectively.

2nd Prize: There will be four 2nd prize winners, two in early June and two in late June: The 2nd Prize will be a full scholarship (fee waver) for any opera in the Opera Classica Europa Pathway to Performance program for 2020 allowing the winner to partake without paying any fees. 3rd Prize: There will be eight 3rd Prize winners, four in early June and four in late June: The 3rd Prize will be two tickets to the prestigious Wagner gala in Bayreuth following the day of the 2nd stage of the competition.

Once you apply, a panel of international judges chaired by Michael Vaccaro (Intendant of Opera Classica Europa) will look at your material. If the material passes the initial screening, you will be sent the terms for participation in the competition, along with all necessary information.
